It's hard to believe it was only like three years ago that Nelly was pretty much in a league with only Jay-Z in terms of how huge their album sales could be. But then the world passed Nelly by, and his 2008 album, Brass Knuckles, was a commercial disappointment. He's still out trying to manufacture a hit single for Brass Knuckles, as "Let It Go (Lil Mama)" has just gotten a fancy new video. The song was produced by the Neptunes (and features Pharrell) who deliver another slice of air-tight, futuristic funk. The only problem is that the video, and the beat, seem like (slightly better) re-workings of Snoop Dogg's "Drop it Like It's Hot," minus the annoying clicks and the weed smoke.
Brass Knuckles is out now.
