The Billboard chart may not carry the same importance it once had, but it’s still impressive that Neko Case’s Middle Cyclone managed to secure the number 3 slot when it was released in March. Late night talk show hosts love Case’s alt-country stylings (can they still be considered “alt” now she is firmly in the mainstream?) and so it proved on last night’s edition of the Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien.

Case performs “This Tornado Loves You” from the album, just as she did when she appeared before a gushing David Letterman in April. The song is a jaunty, upbeat number, which fits perfectly alongside the rest of her pleasant but unremarkable career as a solo singer.
