Neil Young posted a new song on his website yesterday, sparking discussion over a possible new studio album. But while we get no sure answer on that question, "Fork in the Road" definitely tells us that Young isn't mellowing in his later years. The crunchy blues-rock tune gives us a pot-bellied, truck-driving narrator, telling us about sights from the road, friends in pick-ups with wives in beauty school, and some upcoming change hinted at in the title. The track is a nice slice of American road music, though it's hard to tell, as the track fades out, if this is a brief but whole track or just a snippet. Either way, it shows us Young still has plenty of gas left in the tank, and maybe a surprise or two up his sleeve.
