My Morning Jacket continued in their quest to plunder their back catalog on Jimmy Fallon’s show last night (Oct. 13) by playing this version of “Wordless Chorus” from the 2005 album Z. The reason for all this introspection is a five-night run of shows the band has coming up at Terminal 5 in New York next week, where a different album will be performed each night.
Here, My Morning Jacket get the Roots to join them to provide a double-drummer assault and some distinctly funky flourishes, and Jim James dons a rather natty looking cape—two elements not guaranteed to be stirred into the mix at those Terminal 5 shows, but would certainly be a welcome surprise if they did happen.
