David Letterman’s show is really ramping up its online coverage of bands—last night (Oct. 12) My Morning Jacket followed in the footsteps of Gorillaz the previous week and recorded an entire set for the show, which can be streamed here. The band also performed “The Way That He Sings,” which first appeared on the At Dawn album in 2001.
The reason for this blast from the past is the five-night residency that My Morning Jacket is about to undertake at Terminal 5 in New York, where they will play a different album from their back catalog at each show. “The Way That He Sings” is the kind of MOR rock sound that the band built its foundations on, with shades of the Band and alt-country figureheads Green on Red and the Long Ryders.

I'm glad MMJ is getting back to their roots. I can't take any more Evil Urges crapolla.
