It’s been difficult to track down any video footage from the recent My Bloody Valentine reunion that doesn’t sound like a vacuum cleaner making love to a jackhammer. Capturing cell phone videos of a band playing at such ferocious volume is never going to be easy. Fortunately this professionally shot clip, which shows the band playing Loveless standout track “To Here Knows When” at the Fuji Rock Festival, has emerged.

So, how do they sound? The answer is: surprisingly faithful to the recorded version of the song. If you close your eyes you’ll struggle to disassociate this performance from the recorded version of the song. Bilinda Jane Butcher still looks and sounds gorgeous, the band are cocooned in soft yellow lighting, and the song only heightens the feverish anticipation for the forthcoming My Bloody Valentine U.S. dates. Let’s also hope that the rest of the footage from the Fuji Rock Festival will surface at some point.
