This video just surfaced of Mos Def in the studio recording The Ecstatic, which was easily one of 2009's best albums. He's certainly explained many elements of the record already, such as in his mini-documentary with Current. But this clip features actual footage of Mos recording tracks like the love-centric "Pistola," for example. He also explains his reasoning for choosing Mr. Flash's beats for certain cuts, while also hinting at a full record with the French producer. Perhaps what is most interesting, though, is knowing how much Mos enjoyed recording this album. Anyone who heard his previous effort, the phoned-in True Magic, will agree with that.
