Before this festival kicked off in Chicago's Marquette Park last month, we posted a track from Brother Ali that essentially served as an appetizer for anyone interesting in attending. Then Takin' It To The Streets 2010, which was free by the way, came and went with no live footage appearing -- well, aside from some amateur footage I caught on YouTube.
But now Nah Right has posted a snippet from Mos Def's performance. As he takes the stage, the MC opens with a call-and-response routine heavily steeped in the repetition of "“As-Salaam-Alaikum" before tackling one of the finer cuts off The Ecstatic. Although the track itself isn't especially energetic, Mos rips through "Wahid" as the crowd bounces along to Madlib beat. I'm hopeful some more footage pops up soon.
that was pretty cool
