The four-headed monster of folk rock, uh, Monsters of Folk, featuring M. Ward, Jim James, Mike Mogis and Conor Oberst, performed their lead single "Say Please" on Conan O'Brien last night. All the dudes wore suits, which I guess is only slightly less predictable than the group coming out dressed like Dust Bowl-era migrant workers (which is how Oberst's Mystic Valley Band dress). It's kind of cute, how Ward, Oberst and Ward all trade verses. I feel bad for the drummer though; he doesn't get a handshake from Conan, and he'll always be fifth fiddle in this band.
Monsters of Folk's self-titled debut is out now via Shangri-La Records.
