Modest Mouse performed, sans Johnny Marr, on Late Night with David Letterman last night. The band recently finished up a tour, which Marr declined to join because he was working with the Cribs on their new album. He’s also recently been talking to the Pet Shop Boys about the first shows he played with Bernard Sumner in Electronic.
The new limited edition EP from Modest Mouse that Letterman mentions in his intro will be available in a special format on Record Store Day (April 18). The tracks “Satellite Skin” and “Guilty Cocker Spaniels” will initially be available to purchase on one 7-inch single, with the rest of the songs being released shortly afterward in what will ultimately be a four-single set.
Also, what’s up with Letterman’s introduction to the band? “Please welcoming back to the program, Modest Mouse.” Perhaps fatigue is setting in after more than 25 years in the Late Night hotseat?
They performed in 2007. So welcome back.

He was welcoming them back because they have played twice before on the show.
