So Moby is living in a castle in the Hollywood Hills according to this recent New York Times article. All that money from his commercial work must still be flowing into his bank account, but that hasn’t stopped the singer from putting out new records—his latest album is titled Destroyed and will be released on Mute in a couple of weeks. Moby showed up on Jay Leno’s show on Friday (April 29) to live out his Scott Walker fantasies with the song “The Day” from that record, which bears more of a singer-songwriter-y air than his overtly electronic work. It’s kind of hard to imagine this track in a car commercial, but it seems unlikely he needs to make money that way these days anyway.
