“Miranda” (Live On Fallon) (Video)

Jimmy Fallon notes that the members of Surfer Blood are about to record their major label debut in his intro to the band here—quite an achievement for a band that has enjoyed a quick rise up the indie-rock ranks. But this appearance was to promote the recent-ish Kanine release Tarot Classics, from which “Miranda” is taken. This is the kind of frenetic sound that got the band noticed just months after it formed back in 2009, but there’s also plenty of canny songwriting chops on display here, with elements of Morrissey, Guided by Voices and Weezer worked into the mix. And that’s a formula that’s only likely to increase Surfer Blood’s audience dramatically with some major label clout behind them. [via The Audio Perv]
