Michael Franti is currently celebrating 24 years in the music biz via various projects, which include the excellent Alternative Tentacles band the Beatnigs and the Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy. His most enduring act has been Spearhead, and they have a new record out titled The Sound of Sunshine, from which they performed the title track for David Letterman last night (Oct. 27). This is the kind of folksy pop territory Franti has claimed as his domain in recent times, and while it’s a perfectly pleasant tune, it’s a mystery why this wasn’t put out while it was actually sunny outside.
