M.I.A. and Baltimore’s Blaqstarr try out the theme song from The Wire, “Way Down in the Hole” (a Tom Waits original), in this video that supposedly cost $10 to make. This isn’t as much of a cover as it is a re-interpretation; Blaqstarr sings the song’s original chorus, while M.I.A. comes in and raps original bars for the verses. It’s too bad the show doesn’t have a sixth season that this could be used on. [Pitchfork]
