Below, there is "Born Free," a track everyone on the net is reporting is a new M.I.A. joint, presumably from her upcoming third album, which is due out on June 29. The track is a change of pace for M.I.A, primarily in that it sounds like the work of an electronica-inspired riot-grrl band who got a discount on vocal reverb. If this is on the album, this one is going to be different, that's for sure.
M.I.A.'s new album, which does not have a title yet, is due out on June 29 via Interscope.

not what i expected. definitely curious to hear the album now
This is interesting, but I hope the rest of the album doesn't sound like this.
Interesting, for sure. Not what I expected either...
Looks like 2010's the year of the ill-advised, buzz-killing new direction.
why is it unexpected? this all seems fair game considering her politics and influences.
Isn't that a sample from Suicide?
Mongrels
What do you want? More loops, samples, and hooks? Did you listen to the song? She's fuggin tell you: born free, she's gonna live free. But, you're right in that it's doubtful this would blow up with the indie-pop kids.
