"Kids" (Video)

Average Rating: 4.50

Nearly six years after they wrote the song, and a few months after they won a lawsuit against a French political party for using the song without permission, MGMT have released a video for their Oracular Spectacular standout "Kids." The clip finds a little kid who gets spooked by horrific hallucinations when he's wearing a MGMT headband. It's pretty simple stuff, and it really capitalizes on its shclocky 1980s vibe.

Still a great song, even though it was played to death for a while. I don't approve of the video though - that's just not right to do to a kid. That's downright child abuse and I would not be surprised if it landed them in legal trouble.

What happened at the end there? Looks like they ran out of live footage with the kid and had to finish it with animation... maybe his parents smartened up and pulled the poor little dude out of it.

This video is absolutely appalling. If we don't come together to stop this someone else will try this again. I have already called Child Protective Services and they referred me to local police. I'm still waiting to see where this leads me. I suggest you all do the same. According to Section 111 [42 U.S.C. 5106g] of the Child Abuse and Prevention Act, it states under Section 111.2 that "the term 'child abuse and neglect' means, at a minimum, any recent act or failure to act on the part of a parent or caretaker, which results in death, serious physical or emotional harm, sexual abuse or exploitation, or an act or failure to act which presents an imminent risk of serious harm;". A complete copy of the Child Abuse and Prevention Act can be obtained online from The Children's Bureau of The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services website under Laws and Policies (http://www.acf.hhs.gov/programs/cb/laws_policies/cblaws/capta03/sec_I_111.htm).
