As we reported in April, Stones Throw is celebrating its fifteenth anniversary with a series of direct-to-vinyl releases featuring artists on the label's roster. The way it works is that the artist will perform live at the Capsule Labs studio/pressing plant in Los Angeles and the set will be immediately pressed to vinyl. Crazy.
Mayer Hawthorne was the first act to take on this challenge of sorts two months ago. He played a quick, 11-song set filled mostly with cuts from 2009's A Strange Arrangement while throwing in a few treats here and there. Most notably, he followed up one of his catchiest tracks to date, "Maybe So, Maybe No," with a brief, albeit awesome, remix of Snoop Dogg's "Gangsta Luv."
