Mayer Hawthorne: "Christmas Time is Here" (Vince Guaraldi Trio Cover)
Fellow Prefix writer Craig Jenkins and I were discussing how we just haven't gotten into the Christmas spirit yet, even though the TV specials and music have become ubiquitous. I'm not going to speak for him right now, but I can safely say that this new cover by Mayer Hawthorne has injected me with ample Christmas spirit. The nerdy soul-man tackles the Vince Guaraldi Trio's classic "Christmas Time is Here," aka that track we all absolutely adore from A Charlie Brown Christmas. I was hoping I could avoid playing heaps of Christmas music until closer to the holiday, but this will definitely be on repeat for the rest of the day. The track appeared on the Stones Throw site with the following message:

All the best Christmas songs were written by Jews, and Chanukah songs suck. This is my favorite Christmas tune, sung over the Vince Guaraldi instrumental.
