Rick Ross' unlikely new clique, Maybach Music Group, made their late night TV performance debut last night, storming Jimmy Kimmel's show with Travis Barker, and D.A. from Chester French in tow. "Play Your Part" is first, and seeing Wale do this with Ross and that Chester French dude should probably make people who were fans of Mixtape About Nothing shudder pretty furiously. Then the group does the belligerent "Tupac Back," which features copious shouting, Ross man boobs, and close to no Pill. Dude is probably most suited for this kind of music, and he's left behind Wale and Meek Mill here. But that's probably because I'm convinced he's always as good as "On Da Korner," when he really isn't. At any rate, this performance suffers from the rap posse performance syndrome--to many voices, too many shouts--but it's probably as good as a coming out party for a group like this can get.
Maybach Music Group's Self-Made is out now.
