After bagging two Grammy's for his BLACKsummers'night LP, Maxwell (and his label) must have clearly realized he should keep pushing that record, which dropped almost a year ago. You can't really blame him, though. BLACKsummers'night, his fourth album, was easily one of the best R&B/soul albums of the past few years. It was a concise and cohesive, though still sonically diverse, record that proved neo soul is still a movement worth following.
Tracks such as the heart-wrenching "Fistful of Tears" further prove that point, especially when they are accompanied by a fantastic throw-back video like the one above. Here's hoping this is also a sign that Maxwell is working on his fifth album and using this video to keep himself in the public eye. That might be a stretch, but it's possible considering how his contemporaries, such as Erykah Badu and Bilal, have released or are releasing records this year.
oooh, i love this song, and I love him too... great video, I wish more men were like him!!
