After a pretty great debut album (2005's A Certain Trigger) that positioned the band at the forefront of the post-punk revival, Maximo Park lost the script and started doing blindly fast electronica-influenced tracks on their sophomore album (Our Earthly Pleasures). Hey! Just like Bloc Party.
And like Bloc Party, Maximo Park are releasing a third LP, Quicken the Heart, and yet again the first song, "Wraithlike" sounds like it had a buzzing synths and electronic rush quota to fill. The song can be streamed in part at Maximo's MySpace, and downloaded for free for the cost of an e-mail address here.
Quicken the Heart is due out on May 11 via Warp. Here's the track list:
01. Wraithlik
02. The Penultimate Clinch
03. The Kids Are Sick Again
04. A Cloud Of Mystery
05. Calm
06. In Another World (You Would’ve Found Yourself By Now)
07. Let’s Get Clinical
08. Roller Disco Dreams
09. Tanned
10. Questing, Not Coasting
11. Overland, West Of Suez
12. I Haven’t Seen Her In Ages
*sigh* They had so much potential. =(
No kidding right? They tanked as hard, if not harder, than Bloc Party and the Futureheads.
