Matthew Dear: "Slowdance" (Video)

· by

At first blush, Matthew Dear's video for "Slowdance," which was directed by Charles Bergquist, sort of comes off as one of those perfume commercials companies put out to seem arty. But then this thing starts getting more manic in its jump cuts, starts looking more like an experimental film, and then ends up being the most beautifully rendered music videos I've seen in some time. This is the kind of thing Andy Warhol would have made, if he wanted to make a beautiful video for an electronic producer signed to Ghostly.

Dear's excellent Black City is out now.

Wowsers, that's a good video. I've posted it on http://fatroland.posterous.com/ (not sure if the embedding's working though).

It's great if you like crap! And a lot of it. It is bearable if you turn the volume to mute.
