It's always nice to see an artist successfully surf between genres throughout the span of their career, and Matthew Dear has cruised with the best of them. The former minimal techno producer has since matured out of the itchy matrices of airless IDM into something a little more disco, a little more Bowie, a little more fun. The second track off his upcoming Beams LP has the Brooklyn producer riding a groovy bassline up and down a classic beat. It's definitely a lighter shade of Dear while still complete with all his trademark quirks. Listen below.
Beams will be released August 28 via Ghostly.
