Massive Attack may be in danger of being eclipsed by a Nicki Minaj song, but that’s not stopping them from touring in North America for the first time in four years. On Friday (May 21) the band showed up on Jimmy Kimmel’s large outdoor stage, where they played “United Snakes” from the expanded edition of Heligoland and the classic “Teardrop.”
The band’s recent live shows have been marked by various screens relaying political messages, which perhaps unsurprisingly were absent from the Kimmel performance. “Teardrop” from Mezzanine Is the highlight here, although Martina Topley-Bird can’t quite reach the notes that Liz Fraser so memorably did on the original…but then, who could?
Although the song name itself is a political message, no?
It's a strong message in support of reptile solidarity!
