Is it just me, or is the fact that the video for Mary J. Blige's "We Got Hood Love" starts with a guy in a hoodie seem a bit too on the nose? I mean, yeah, dude definitely loves hoods. But apparently hood love is staying with someone who pisses you off, not wearing shirts with hoods?
To be honest, I don't understand the narrative arc of this video. Hispanic girls in the neighborhood have the same relationship problems as Mary J. and that is profound? And Trey Songz has the same problem? Because I'm sure that girl in that small apartment is thinking, "My relationship problems are okay, because Mary J. Blige is having the same problems in her mansion. Oh, and Trey Songz too."
