Maroon 5

Call and Response (Stream Cut Copy, Of Montreal remixes)

That Maroon 5 remix album is finally here, featuring remixes from a lot of groups that sound dramatically different from Maroon 5. There's the Of Montreal remix of "Little of Your Time," which sounds nothing like either a Maroon 5 song or an Of Montreal song. There's the Cut Copy (Galactic Beach House) remix of "This Love," where the Australians don't even let Adam Levine get a full verse out before they chop it up and cover it in effects. If you were curious as to what it sounds like when pop meets, well, other pop, buy the album or listen to it here at Maroon 5's Myspace. There's also remixes by Deerhoof and The Cool Kids. can't find it anywhere, not in the myspace, not in the website's media section... I had to listen to so much crap in my doomed search...

I love M5 and this concept. The list of producers is impressive and the band definitely chose well to represent them, although some of the remixes fall flat. Swizz Beats version of “If I Never See Your Face Again”, was a letdown. Using Run DMC’s “peter piper” does not make a remix. Check out this dudes version and youll see what I mean:

M5 should dig a little deeper and find gems like these for remixes nextime.
