If you were wondering how Marnie Stern manages to pull off all that sped-up guitar noodling while she sings on stage, the answer is in this video from her performance at Cake Shop. Apparently, it takes an awful lot of concentration. Stern rarely looks up from her guitar as she plucks note after note off its neck, but she still puts plenty of life into her singing and somehow remembers all the words. So while she might not be dancing around the tiny stage, she is still tearing it up. The drummer is putting on his own great show behind Stern, but it is a little hard to hear what that other guitarist is up to. What the clip for "Steely" here, then head over to Pitchfork.tv to watch the whole set.
