Uber producer Mark Ronson has taken a break from foisting audio horrors like the Kaiser Chiefs’ Off With Their Heads and Robbie Williams’ Rudebox on the world, and has got a new album of his own to promote. Record Collection features a strange mix of guests, from ‘80s stars Boy George and Simon Le Bon to hip-hop luminaries like Ghostface Killah and Q-Tip.
The latter appeared with Ronson on David Letterman’s show last night, along with MNDR, to perform the opening cut from the album, “Bang Bang Bang.” It’s an uneasy mix of cheesy Euro house synths, Ronson’s natural inclination toward breezy pop, and Q-Tip’s contributions. Fortunately, this is likely to be best remembered as a very minor footnote in the career of the latter.
