Marianne Faithfull

"The Crane Wife 3" (Decemberists Cover) (Live on Letterman) (Video)

Average Rating: 5.00

On her new album, Easy Come Easy Go, Marianne Faitfull covers a bunch of artists, including the Decemberists' "The Crane Wife 3," which features Nick Cave on wax. Cave wasn't around for Faithfull's performance of the track on Letterman last night, but she was accompanied by a rather robust band, which featured a string section, and a handful of other musicians. I'm not so fond of Faithfull's broken-down vocals, but I will say I enjoy the song better this way than when it's sung out of Colin Meloy's nasal cavities.

She doesn't do the track any harm, but I've got to say, I prefer the original. Her new album does sound interesting though.

luv the album version...this was a little speeded up and lacking in space for the vocal. Letterman always leaves such a tight window at the end of the show and short sheets the performing bands. especially after spending half a lifetime chatting with the inane half-witted bill0--now that's the definition of torture.
