Mariah Carey

Hero (2009 Version) (Video)

I've always assumed most Mariah Carey fans bought her new albums based on the fact that they liked her old songs, and now, here's irrefutable video proof: Carey has re-recorded a bunch of her old hits for a new compilation album called Ballads (out on Januray 20). The video above is meant to accompany the new version of "Hero," which has been played to death since it's creation. Part of me hates her record label for having the audacity to have Carey re-record songs, but the other part of me knows that this will have respectable sales. [AngryApe]

Ah, yes. "A hero lies in you." Jared from Subway couldn't have said it better. Rumor has it the original lyric was "a hoagie lies in you," but they decided to broaden the appeal of the song to outside Philadelphia.

I'd just like to say, that while E=MC2 wasn't very good, I really really like 2005's Emancipation of Mimi, and I don't think that album can qualify as "old songs."
