At a recent concert, Magnetic Fields did a pretty funny cover of Katy Perry's "Waking Up in Vegas." Claudia Gonson handles a lot of the vocals, but when Stephin Merritt comes in he sounds like someone wearily reprimanding someone for getting into debauchery in Las Vegas. I wonder if this will be on the next Guilt By Association comp. [You Ain't No Picasso]
Never been a big fan of ironic covers of pop songs. I like my pop covers chock full of sincerity.
