The influence of Howard Devoto’s post-punk outfit Magazine was considerably felt earlier this decade when bands including Franz Ferdinand and the Futureheads emerged. The singer got Magazine back together earlier this year for a number of dates, albeit without the sadly deceased (and much missed) guitarist John McGeoch.

Magazine appeared on Jools Holland’s show on Friday (Oct. 16), where they performed a version of the classic “Shot By Both Sides” from Real Life. The track hasn’t aged a day since it was released 31 years ago, although Devoto has noticeably changed the lyrics in the final third of the song, which might irk the purists.
