While we're still waiting for the official follow up to 2004's Madvillainy, DOOM and Madlib have at least provided us with this new track, available as part of the Adult Swim Singles Series. "Papermill" retains the Madvillain M.O. of sacrificing choruses or hooks in favor of unfiltered bars delivered at a head-spinning clip. What's thrilling about this track is that it seems like the duo are both doing their best to out-weird themselves, be it in DOOM's increasingly off-kilter flow, or in Madlib's queasy-guitar funk beat. It's an all too tantalizing taste of what's to come from these two.
