"Shining Down" is the first single from Lupe Fiasco's alleged "final' album Lasers, and the song certainly has a "this is it" vibe; Matthew Santos, Lupe's favorite hook-man, sings about being gone and shining down on people like an omniscent deity. Lupe shows off some Lil Wayne-esque Auto-Tuner work, but given the spacey vibe of the dense beat, it actually works apart from just being a way to screw with Lupe's voice. This isn't as pop-oriented as some of the tracks on Lupe's last album (The C.O.O.L.), but then again, I didn't think that album had any songs that could be a hit, and it sold a bunch of copies.
A lot of the links to the MP3 have been deaded recently, so go here to hear one that works right now. No promises.
Lasers is due out sometime later this year.
