Lupe Fiasco is officially done pushing Lasers' previous, politically charged single, "Words I Never Said," which landed him a brief interview on The O'Reilly Factor, for something a bit lighter in "Out of My Head." It's also a whole hell of a lot more mainstream and radio friendly with its synthesizer-laden production and hook from Trey Songz. That combination alone is sure to land almost any rapper on most rap/R&B stations. But luckily for Lupe's fans, "Out of My Head" isn't actually as disappointing as you might assume. It's not quite as good as his previous female-centric joints -- "Sunshine" and "Paris Tokyo," for example -- but the track makes for a decent brainless summer romp. It's just too bad the video is kind of bland.
Lasers is out now.
