Just two days after Rick Ross appeared on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon to perform the original version of "B.M.F.," Lupe Fiasco has released his own take on the track. And it's much more interesting than your typical rapper-spitting-over-an-industry-beat-track.
The Chicago MC basically goes off for the better part of five minutes as the Lex Luger production bangs in the background. He kicks it off by replacing Ross's gangster name-dropping with references to Martin Luther King Jr., Malcolm X, Fela Kuti, Marcus Garvey, Bob Marley, and 2pac.
What's most intriguing about this, though, is that it might mean we could be hearing that previously canceledFriend of the People mixtape soon. It wouldn't be the worst move for Fiasco, as his fans are rallying via online petition to see the release of his forthcoming, much-delayed Lasers. Why not hold 'em over with another mixtape 'til that record finally drops?
You can stream and download Fiasco's "B.M.F. (Building Minds Faster)" over at Kanye's blog.
It's weird. At first I was feeling this and as I listened a few more times, it's kind of super-disappointing/boring.
