Lou Barlow, best known as the main creative force behind '90s lo-fiers Sebadoh and as that mopey bassist from Dinosaur Jr, has a new solo EP out. Featuring Mike Watt's backing band the [more:]missingmen on guitar and drums, Barlow's new effort is called = Sentridoh III, and includes the bluesy, haunting stomper, "On The Face." In the video, the band performs live in a cramped, dingy rehearsal space while a tiny video monitor in the corner of the room flashes grainy footage of a beautiful woman. These shots are cut with images of the missingmen sitting dispassionately on red velvet chairs as a TV behind them plays footage of the rehearsal we just watched. All the while, Barlow cradles his head in his hands on a couch downstage and appears to rue his own existence. Is he bummed about the mystery lady? The baby that appears around 1:25? The tacky furniture that surrounds him? No conclusive answers are offered, but luckily the song is nice enough to make the riddle worthwhile.
