British indie label FatCat recently launched a subsidiary called Palmist that aims to give shine to D.I.Y. acts via 12-inch split EPs. The latest release from the label features their biggest act to date: Lotus Plaza, the nom-de-solo haze rock of Deerhunter's Lockett Pundt, who splits the 12-inch with Toronto band Odonis Odonis. Lotus Plaza have two jams on the album, one of which you can hear at Pitchfork, who have the stream. It's a track that allows you to easily see the influence Pundt has on Deerhunter (and probably vice versa) since it wouldn't have been out of place on last year's Halcyon Digest. The EP is out on July 18 in the U.K. and Aug. 16 in North America, but will be limited to 500 copies. Get there early, folks.
