Yesterday we noticed that Lily Allen could not stop performing “The Fear” during her run of TV promotional duties for It’s Not Me, It’s You. Thankfully, she gave the song a rest for her appearance on Later with Jools Holland last night (April 28), on which she played another track from the record, “Not Fair.”

The song is about as close as Allen will ever get to recording a hoedown, with its frantic beat and delicate touches of pedal steel. The lyrics are typically provocative (“when we go up to bed/you’re just no good/it’s such a shame”) but Allen has struck a chord in the U.K., where the album has been a huge number 1 hit.
