Lil Wayne

"Ready for the World" (MP3)

"Ready for the World" is allegedly from Lil Wayne's "rock" album Rebirth, but as with every other Lil Wayne song bouncing around on blogs right now, you can never be completely sure this isn't just some tossed off song that he recorded in about seven minutes last night. The sub-Tool bass line and emo-lyrics ("when I look into the mirror in the morning, I don't see anything") certainly suggest a rockist bent, and, somewhat surprisingly, this isn't completely terrible. It's still pretty bad--it's like Wayne decided to start rapping over Papa Roach songs--but it's got some vocals with real pathos (his voice cracks in a way that suggest emotion, not lack of talent), even if Wayne spends too much time lambasting motherfuckers in the verses.

Rebirth is due out on August 18, but that is roughly the 47th release date it has had, so don't be surprised if it doesn't come out until 2019. [NahRight]

I'm not acknowledging Rebirth. I still think it's a practical joke or it's gonna be some non-existence twist like Sixth Sense or Fight Club. Better yet: alternate universe Weezy!
