Lil B has been quiet since releasing his "controversial" album, I'm Gay (I'm Happy), in the beginning of July. Relatively speaking, of course, because he has released several videos in the meantime, though they were all for older tracks. But nearly two months after dropping I'm Gay, the Based God is back with I Forgive You.
It boasts 12 new tracks from the Bay Area rapper who appears to still be in his more serious mode that was on full display on I'm Gay. It opens with the totally somber, somewhat-depressing "Tonight" and then moves through darker cuts like "I Forgive You" and "Heard Her Cry." The latter is dedicated to "all the women who are in abusive relations with a man and they're scared to talk about it and don't know how to get out of it." Damn, Based God.
He does lighten up elsewhere, though the results are, um, exactly what you might expect from Lil B. There's "Bitch F*ck With Me," which my girlfriend noted sounds like something Michael Scott would do on The Office, and the Waka Flocka-esque "I'm In The Streetz." Yeah, if you're not a Based God fan at this point, this won't win you over. But if you are: enjoy.
