“Lee Majors Come Again” (Audio)

As a bonus for fans who bought the Check Your Head reissue, the Beastie Boys randomly tossed in a 7-inch to some copies that features two unreleased tracks. The first, and better of the two, is “Lee Majors Come Again,” which takes the rushing guitar beat that the band exclusively used in the ’90s (and topped off with “Intergalactic”). The track is kind of lo-fi–it seems like it wasn’t completely mixed–but maybe they were going for a below-the din punk rock production on the track. The bass line is very similar to the one on “So What’cha Want,” one of Check Your Head‘s better moments, but the track seems newer than that since there’s a reference to Apple Bottom Jeans, which weren’t in production until 2003.
