We’ve already seen LCD Soundsytem deliver a rambunctious version of “Drunk Girls” for Jools Holland’s show in the U.K. last week. The repeat showing of Later on Friday night (May 14) yielded another song by James Murphy and his band as they go through their perky death throes, this time in the shape of “I Can Change.”
If “Drunk Girls” is Murphy attempting an Iggy-esque “Lust For Life” stomp, “I Can Change” fast-forwards to the next decade via a mid-paced and distinctly ‘80s sounding synth-pop backing. That keyboard contraption Nancy Whang is playing during this clip wouldn't look out of place among the medical machinery on an episode of House. Perhaps she's mainlining Murphy's DNA live on stage?
