It may have taken a short while, but there’s now a video for LCD Soundsystem’s “Drunk Girls,” which has been released ahead of This Is Happening on May 17. The album is still streaming in full over at the LCD Soundsystem website, primarily as a chance to fend off the leaked copies that have emerged online.
“Drunk Girls” isn’t typical of the album’s direction—instead it’s more like a quick and fun interlude—and this video follows that lead, with the band members trying to perform while simultaneously being attacked and showered with confetti by some Flaming Lips-style suited creatures. This video has been tagged with the name "Spike Jones," although whether the actual Spike Jonze was involved isn't yet clear.
I actually haven't listened to the rest of the album yet. What do you think?
I'm skeptical about it's staying power. But right now Im digging it a lot. You Wanted a Hit, is gonna be one of my favourite tracks this year I think.
I've acknowleged pretty much every caveat to this song I can think of. I still can't get it out of my head, it's too effin good.
