Lana Del Rey was out in California this weekend, performing a show in L.A., and doing the inevitable: She showed up for a poolside performance of "Born to Die" at a party for the fashion label Mulberry. The thing that has become increasingly apparent re: Lana Del Rey is that she's not part of some new continuum, some genre-breaking Wonder Woman: This sounds like any number of jazz-influenced singer songwriters working in every mid-sized American city right now. Which isn't a diatribe against the major label backing, or the Internet hype, but let's just remember what we're really dealing with here.
