It’s gotten to the point where Lady GaGa has to outdo herself with each new performance. She has no peers at this point—no one in the pop world is pushing elements of performance art and theater into their work with the same kind of alacrity. So it proved at the Brit Awards last night (Feb. 16), where Gaga performed this medley of two songs.
Both “Telephone” and “Dance in the Dark” are taken from The Fame Monster, which may disappoint anyone looking for one of her bigger hits, but proves Gaga is going to do this her way. In fact, this is a distinctly uncommercial performance, the highlight of which is the bizzaro world keyboard/sampler/bass contraption she plays toward the end. And just check out that hair. Has it ever been higher?
