Lady Gaga videos are bona fide pop events, which the singer teases her fans about online for weeks prior to their release. “Marry the Night” is no exception, and the finished clip doesn’t disappoint. It’s almost 14 minutes in length, beginning with lengthy voiceover commentary from Gaga while she’s wheeled into a hospital on a bed. She directed this clip—the first time she’s helmed one of her own videos—and has even uploaded a video to Vevo that explains her motivations behind it (check that out below). It takes a while for the song to kick in and the whole venture is wonderfully pretentious, but it’s worth sticking around for, especially when Gaga and her dancers pull off a Perfect homage toward the end.
