New Matador signing Kurt Vile is set to release his Childish Prodigy album on October 6. This first glimpse of the album is a stripped-down track that demonstrates Vile’s tender side, which is positioned somewhere between the mournful outpourings of Bon Iver and rock oriented songwriters like Bob Seger and Jackson Browne. His falsetto really soars midway through “Overnite Religion.”
The artwork for Childish Prodigy can be viewed below, and the album with be preceded by a 7-inch single featuring the track “He’s All Right.” Vile will be undertaking some extensive touring duties to promote his new work, beginning with a lengthy summer tour. Full dates as follows:
