It’s taken a while, and it’s certainly been a rocky road to get there, but the new album by former nu-rave figureheads Klaxons is almost upon us. The band premiered a new song from the record, titled “Echoes,” on Zane Lowe’s radio show in the U.K., offering us the second taste of Surfing the Void after the recently leaked “Flashover.”
On first listen it’s not a huge progression from the first album, which makes the band’s wilderness years seem even more perplexing. The only discernible difference is a slightly more “rock” sound, but familiar Klaxons touchstones such as a sing-along chorus, a clear fondness for classic pop structure and a huge distorted bass sound are all firmly intact.
