Klaxons: "Echoes" (Live On Jools Holland) (Video)

· by

There’s a new season of Later with Jools Holland on in the U.K., which means a further eclectic selection of musicians all being corralled together to appear in the same studio together. The format is so simple, yet works so well, that it’s surprising no one has tried this in North America. The first show in this series featured Klaxons, Phil Collins, Herb Alpert and Manic Street Preachers.

It’s to the former nu-rave act that we turn to here, with Klaxons performing “Echoes” from the recently release (and much troubled) second album, Surfing the Void. After all the speculation about a change of direction, this is pretty much business as usual for the group, with “Echoes” sounding like another well crafted pop song with a bittersweet underbelly—although the live sound could do with a little beefing up judging by this reedy performance.
